Welcome to Troop 1, Lewes Delaware

Welcome To Troop 1 of Lewes, Delaware!

Troop 1 belongs to the Sussex District, of the Del-Mar-Va Council of the Scouts BSA. Troop 1 is chartered through the St. Peter's Episcopal Church of Lewes, serving the Cape Henlopen area, of Sussex County, Delaware. Troop 1's goal is to not only recruit new Scouts, from Cub Scout Pack 1, but the entire Sussex County, community. All are welcome!

Troop 1 meets weekly at 7 pm, on Thursday evenings in the St. Peter's Church. St. Peter's is located on 211 Mulberry Street, in Lewes. We invite all boys who are under 18 years old, and either are 11, years old or older, or have completed the fifth grade, or are at least 10 years old and have earned the Arrow of Light Award in Cub Scouts.

The Troop's philosophy is “Fun with a Purpose.” Scouting is an adventure, based on challenge, leadership and experience. Our program of regular outings, productive meetings, service projects and special activities is designed to foster our boys natural advancement through the Scouting program.

Our goal is to be an active, challenging troop, incorporating traditional Scouting methods with regular, age appropriate, high adventure activities including hiking, biking, kayaking, canoeing and backpacking.
Scouting's "Patrol Method" encourages Scouts to plan activities and execute the scouting program themselves with adult leaders maintaining supervision, but only actively interceding to assure correct techniques are taught, and assure the safety of our scouts. Troop Leadership responsibilities for all Troop activities lies with the Patrol Leaders Council (PLC), a group of youth leaders elected or chosen by the scouts, from among the scouts.

Troop 1 Scouting focuses its program on assuring that scouts who participate in Troop meetings and outings will advance through the ranks of the Scouts BSA program. Our program provides all scouts with opportunities to learn the skills and develop the self-confidence necessary to achieve not only their goals in scouting, but throughout their entire lives. All this notwithstanding, along the way we have a whole lot of
FUN! Scouting is for parents too! Active, committed leaders and parents are essential to the success of Troop 1. No special abilities or knowledge are required to make a huge difference in a young man's life. Volunteer at one of our many events, you'll be glad you did!
