Scoutmaster's Note

Welcome!

We are excited that you are interested in becoming a part of Scouting at St. Margaret Mary’s Troop 306. As you will learn, Troop 306 is anything but your “typical” scouting program. With decades of experience in executing a model program, we have served literally hundreds of Scouts and their families. Under the leadership of seven Scoutmasters over our 65 year history, we proudly boast that over 170 youth have reached the rank of Eagle while learning leadership at 306.

We call those within our program “Trailblazers”, because that’s what we do! We serve as one of the councils most forward looking units, ever changing and adapting for tomorrow’s youth. We are the largest youth organization sponsored by the parish of St. Margaret Mary, a community that has supported the scouting movement since 1958.

We have a mission statement and a goal that is well known throughout our council. We want to be THE scouting program within the Lincoln Heritage Council. In our opinion… the youth deserve the best, you as a parent want the best for your child, and we refuse to accept anything less! We believe every young child deserves the opportunity to succeed in life, and make a future for themselves. We understand that scouting is for the youth…and only the youth! And this is the secret of this troop’s success. If you keep the focus on them… the rest will fall in place.

A local Pastor says, “The mission stays the same, while the methods always change.” There will never be a more perfect description of our mutual attitude in this troop than that quote! It has served as our unofficial motto for over 50 years, and with your help…we can make that the cornerstone of your child’s personal scouting experience.

There are many Scouts BSA Troops to choose from and we appreciate and are flattered with your interest and hope that you choose to be a part of Troop 306!
