Welcome from Troop 65B!
Established in 1942, Troop 65 of Mt. Lebanon, PA offers opportunities for boys ages 11-17 to experience the outdoors, learn outdoor skills, provide community service and grow in leadership through a structured advancement program. We strive to be a scout-run, scout-led organization as much as possible. All new scouts are welcome; no previous scouting experience is required. Troop 65 serves scouts from various public, private, and home schools in and around the Mt. Lebanon area. Our Troop sizes varies from 20-35 registered boys on our roster at any time. While access to many parts of our website are granted only to members of our troop (by login), we would be happy to hear from any interested families (right colum on this page - Contact Us).
Some highlights of our program include camping, backpacking, kayaking, wilderness survival, Klondike Derby, Adopt-a-Highway, broomball and summer camp. Our Summer Camp program has followed a practice of exploring a new scout camp every two years. In over the last dozen years, we have visited Heritage Reservation, Camp Guyasuta, Camp Seph Mack, Beaumont Scout Reservation, Goshen Scout Reservation, Seven Mountains Scout Reservation, Resica Falls Scout Reservation, Rodney Scout Reservation. We also regularly have boys participate in BSA sponsored high adventure trips to the World Jamboree, National Jamboree in West Virginia, Philmont in New Mexico, Seabase in Florida, and Northern Tier in Minnesota/Canada. Over one hundred and forty Troop 65B scouts have attained Eagle Scout rank (Menu-Home-Eagle Scouts of the Past).
Scouting’s Journey to Excellence is the BSA’s planning, performance, and recognition program designed to encourage and reward the success of our units, districts, and councils. It is meant to encourage excellence in providing a quality program at all levels of the BSA. Since the program's inception, we've earned the Journey to Excellence - Gold Level.

Troop 65 has achieved Gold status each year since Journey to Excellence was introduced in 2011. Prior to that, the Troop continually earned the Boy Scouts of America Quality Unit award each year.
The Journey to Excellence program is designed to encourage and reward Troop success by measuring the performance of all Boy Scout troops, nationwide, and is meant to encourage excellence in providing a quality Boy Scout program.
The levels of achievement are dynamic and become harder to earn each year. To achieve the Gold level, a Boy Scout troop must be ranked in the top 10% of all troops nationwide.
The current standards are available at Boy Scouts of America's Journey to Excellence website.
