Welcome To Troop 809 |
Troop 809 was founded in 1994 and is chartered by the Alamo Heights Presbyterian Church and serviced by the Coyote District of the Alamo Area Council. The Alamo Heights Presbyterian Church holds the charter to a Scout BSA Boys Troop, a Scout BSA Girls Troop, and a Co-ed Venture Crew for youth 14 years of age and older. The Scout BSA Troops for the boys and girls are completely separate Troops each with a Scoutmaster and the two Troops operate independently but under the same Committee Chair and Chartered Organization Representative.
Troop 809 is the largest Troop in the Alamo Area Council and recognized as one of the largest in the United States. The Troop is organized into patrols of typically 8 to 10 Scouts under the direct supervision of a committed adult Primary Patrol Advisor. Patrols are traditionally composed of Scouts in the same grade level. Patrols function best with eight members and are encouraged to conduct activities on their own and partner with other patrols of various ages for campouts, service engagements, and leadership opportunities. However, there are many Troop functions where attendance by the entire Troop is required.
