Welcome to Carmel, IN Troop 733!!

Our Goals as a Troop:

• Be active: build a program where scouts will want to participate.
• Be interesting to a diverse group--although there are many requirements needed to progress along the Advancement Trail, we are looking to provide an experience that all scouts can find something that fits their individual interests.
• Be flexible: We understand that our community offers a great variety of activities (sports, church and school based). Our goal is to build a well-rounded scout and these activities help us, not hinder us.
• Be scout-led - One of the major differences between Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA is the very important method, leadership development. In order to teach leadership, you have to let the scouts lead. The importance of a scout-led troop and patrol is emphasized in two chapters of the Scoutmaster’s Handbook; chapter 3 “The Scout-Led Troop” starts with this strong statement: “Empowering youth to be leaders is the core of Scouting. Scouts learn by doing, and what they do is lead their patrols and their troop.” As a former Cub Scout Leader and a parent, this one is hard, especially with younger scouts. But the troop goal is to let the scouts set up their leadership, fail when it can be a learning experience, and build on their successes.
• Give back to our community including Cub Scout Packs; additional leadership can be learned through community projects and working with Packs that are in need of Den Chiefs or activity leadership. We hope that these new scouts choose to give back!!
