some more information...

What is Sea Scouts?

Sea Scouts is character and leadership development using boating and the water as our training environment.  This is in contrast to our Scouts BSA sibling organizations, Troop-based scouts and Venture Crews, which use hiking and camping as their training environment.

Our program is built around preparing for the annual 7-15 day cruise completely led by our Sea Scouts.  These cruises are organized by our Sea Scouts and there are unlimited possibilities: sailing in the Bahamas or Florida keys, trawler cruising in the Pacific Northwest, paddling adventures in remote locations, SCUBA in the Virgin Islands, and so much more!

Although Sea Scouts attracts some of those already in Troops or Venture Crews (the Eagle rank and Summit award can be completed in Sea Scouts), the SSS Black Pearl also attracts many others who have interests in learning aspects of the various types of boating: sailing vessels, power boats, paddle sports, and even SCUBA!

Sea Scouts has been in the USA since 1912--just one year after Scouts BSA began as Boy Scouts of America.  We are coed scouting for ages 14 to 20 and the SSS Black Pearl focuses on those scouts still in High School, Junior High, or being homeschooled.

On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.
