Who We Are

Welcome to the Boy Troop 444 website. This site has been developed to provide the members of Troop 444 and their families with information, photos, and more. Please feel free to explore the public portion of our website and see what Scouting is all about.

Troop 444 is the Scouts BSA Troop sponsored by The Walker School with an active membership of over 30 young men.  Boy Troop 444 was chartered in 2003 and is led by Scoutmaster Wayne Marcinko.

Since we chartered in 2003, more than 90 Scouts have earned the Eagle Scout rank and our troop is an ideal place for boys from grades 6 through 12 to grow into exemplary young adults by experiencing Scouting's fundamental values - Leadership, Achievement, Character, Service and Outdoor Adventure!

Walker Scouting program has earned top awards of excellence from Foothills District and the Atlanta Area Council for many years!

For information about Boy Troop 444 and how to join, scroll down to the bottom of this page for the Contact Information.....You can also click the "Menu" button to the upper left and vist the page "About our Troop" or "Our Adult Leaders" for more detail and information.

TROOP 444 Crossovers Virtual Campout

This weekend, Troop 444 had a virtual campout to introduce the Crossovers, the troop's new scouts, to camping.  They learned important camping information and skills like preparing a first aid kit, making a square knot, preparing a campsite, building a fire and cooking.  The older scouts led the training.  Everyone had a good time during campfire time.  The Phoenix Patrol put on a skit, ASM Brewington sang a song, some scouts told scary stories and jokes and Scoutmaster Marcinko sang Scouts Will Rock You.  The next morning, the scouts met to pray together and tell each other how the camping was.  The Crossovers chose a patrol name - Shadow Patrol.    Check out the photo gallery.

TROOP 444 Vamping (Virtual Campout)

Boy Troop 444 comes up with a way for our scouts to still 'meet-up' despite the current challenges. It was the first time they used ZOOM meetings app to hold a virtual campout to connect with everyone.  Some of the highlights were doing a scavenger hunt, setting up our home campsites, making dinner and breakfast and sharing camp fire stories. All of the scouts and scoutmasters who participated had a great time.  They said they liked being able to do scouting activities even though they can't do them in person.  The activities were fun and we had good leadership from our scouts.   The campout was a good experience to prepare for the future crossover campout.  Check out the photo gallery.

WEBSITE INFORMATION for TROOP 444 SCOUT FAMILIES

This is the public homepage which is available for all to see.  This website is shared by Girl Troop 444 and Boy Troop 444 as BSA Linked units.  The most recent Troop activities are shown down the left side of the page, just click and see what has been happening recently with Troop 444. Website viewers can also click on the Home and Photo Gallery tabs at the upper left. After clicking, a dropdown menu will appear for each providing more options:

The Home Tab dropdown menu:

  • "Home" takes you back to this homepage

  • "About Our Troop" provides some general background and contact information

  • "Our Adult Leaders" lists the curent leadership roles that are filled by the Troop's adult volunteers

  • "Download Forms" provides various forms, maps, checklists, etc that can be useful to Scouts and Parents, and also provides many helpful links to other Scouting resources on the Internet

  • "Resource Links" provides helpful links to common BSA websites and resources.

The Photo Gallery tab dropdown menu:

  • "Photo Gallery" will take you to a listing of all the photo albums of the Troop covering many of our recent camping events, awards and advancement ceremonies, and other special outings

  • "Video Gallery" lists video of Troop activities and even some 'Troop 444 in the media'

So what's in the private, password-protected part of the website?

Once you've been issued a User ID and a Password (each arrives in a separate email), you can access the private part of the website designed to make Troop 444 very transparent to all Scouts and families. This is where 95% of the website lies. Here are some of the things you can do there:

  • Change your contact information and password

  • Sign up for upcoming events

  • Start a conversation on a Scouting topic in a forum

  • Check your rank advancement and merit badges, both in-progress and earned

  • Send an email to one or multiple Scouts or Adults that you select

  • Send an email to a whole group of people (e.g. all Assistant Scoutmasters or everyone going on a specific event)

  • Get Troop Rosters (lists of Troop Scouts, Adults, and Patrols)

  • See the Troop's calendar

The first time you look at your individual Scout records (e.g. "My Rank Advancement" under the "My Stuff" tab), don't be surprised if what you see is a little behind where you really are. When a Scout has completed the requirements for the next rank, they must visit with Mr. Marcinko or Mr. Hajost for Boy Troop 444 so they can update  Troop records......  OR the website will be updated with the latest advancements just prior to the next scheduled Court of Honor.

Please enjoy the Troop 444 web site. Click tabs and links. Send emails. Sign up for events. Open forms. Explore. Let us know what works and what doesn't.
