Welcome to BSA Troop 170

We are 119 Eagles strong and growing!

Founded in 1984, BSA Troop 170 is chartered under the Hoosier Trails Council BSA and meets at St. Charles Catholic Church on East Third Street in Bloomington Indiana. We meet every Monday evening from 7-8:30pm in the Parish Hall (church basement). We welcome boys and their parents of all faiths to visit and join with us.

In 2014, Troop 170 was proud to have awarded our 100th Eagle. This milestone was the perfect beginning for our 30th year. We honor our Eagles by continuing the tradition of Troop 170 to provide service to the community where there is need. Our goal is to live the Scout Oath and Scout Law every day.

A full calendar of events keeps us busy. We have camping, canoeing, hiking, cycling, swimming, and much more planned for this year with at least 1 major outing each month. We attend Summer Camp for a week every July at Maumee Scout Reservation in the Hoosier National Forest. We also plan for a High Adventure trip each year. In 2022, we sent a Crew to Sea Base for a week in the Florida Keys.
