SCOUTING HAS A PROGRAM FOR EVERYONE!
SERVING YOUNG MEN SINCE 1923
Troop #10 has been serving boys in Hinsdale, Westmont, Clarendon Hill, Downers Grove, Willowbrook, Burr Ridge, and surrounding areas ever since it was established as Troop 3 in 1923. We have been partnered with the Union Church of Hinsdale ever since our establishment, and we will be celebrating our centennial year at our Pancake Breakfast in March, and at some point during the summer!

10B's Side of the Troop 10 Campout/Hike at Starved Rock!
THERE ARE SO MANY ACTIVITIES TO CHOOSE FROM!
All members of both units (male and female) will work together on activities like: fire building, kayaking, canoeing, leadership, community service, wilderness survival, hiking, cooking, first aid, knot-tying, backpacking, mountain biking, scuba diving, camping, and so much more. Scouts will learn personal development, leadership, and community service, all while developing their moral compass and having fun! Scouting revolves around the Scout Oath and Law:
The Scout Oath:
On my honor, I will do my best
To do my duty, to god and my country
And to obey the scout law,
To help other people at all times,
To keep myself physically strong,
Mentally awake, and morally straight.
The Scout Law:
A scout is: trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent!
All scouts abide by these two guiding principles to develop their moral compass and learn how to become a good citizen on their journey to eagle scout!

Is scouting safe for young boys?
Yes, scouting has been concluded as the "Gold Standard" for Youth Protection following the upheaval of protection policies. Read more about the Youth Protection Program here.
Two registered adults 21 or older must be present at all Scouting Activities, one of which must be a female for a unit serving females (like Troop #10).
Adults Must Be:
1) 21 or Over
2) Registered as a volunteer with the BSA
3) Have gone through a background check
4) Be up to date on Youth Protection Training.
YOUTH LEADERSHIP
Troop #10 is a youth-led troop, and that principle applies to both young boys and young girls. Scouting uses what is known as the Patrol Method, with a Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) at the top of the youth-governing body, the Patrol Leaders' Council (PLC). The main positions are: SPL, Assistant SPL (ASPL), and Patrol Leader (PL). Since Troop #10G is a smaller unit at the moment, we only have an official SPL, who acts as the Patrol Leader for the entire unit. Once more members are recruited, there will be another election among first-class scouts to elect the next Senior Patrol Leader. The male unit, Troop #10B is guiding the females through their scouting experience until they get more members and more experienced scouts! Here is the current Youth Leadership of Troop #10G.
SENIOR PATROL LEADER: Alex Henry, 9th Grade, Life Scout
ASSISTANT SENIOR PATROL LEADER: Anthony Barakat, 9th Grade, Life Scout
